Me, Me, Me!

So I have seen this floating around on peoples blogs. I can't decide if I like it or not. But since I am totally narcissistic, egotistical and self-involved (thank you thesaurus) I decided to give it a whorl. But since I love Kelly just as much as I love myself... I guess you could post faves about him too. Or me and him. But if you don't know me, I suggest you get to know me. Because frankly I am the coolest around. And if you don't know me, then you don't know that I am very sarcastic and quite frankly a smart-ass. Let's have some fun shall we?!
Directions: Leave a comment on my blog about a memory of you and I together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, just whatever you remember. Then repost this on your blog to see who leaves comments for you!Let's reminisce, it'll be fun!

"Must Go"

I know this is a total rip-off from a radio morning show, but I have been mentally adding things to my list of things that must go. For any of you who do not know what I am referring to, its a thing that bothers you, so much that they should be eliminated from the face of the earth. And it just feels nice to have them be heard. I invite each of you to add something(s) of your own that you simply cannot stand anymore on the comments page.

Kelly's List

-When you hold a door open for a complete stranger and the person pushes the door open that final two inches of the doors capacity as they walk through, sometimes they do this while thanking you at the same time.

-People who do not wave to show their graditude when I let them into traffic. If they wave they are fine and I feel good about myself, if they do not then I can feel the rage boiling up inside me. There is no gray area in this matter.

-Reality Shows and anyone who believes that none of them are scripted.

-How some car doors unlock to the left while others unlock to the right. I always lose that 50-50 guess.

-Cyclist that ride in traffic, but become 'pedestrians' when they come to a red light and ride through the crosswalk.

-When fast food joints like McDonalds uses the word "fresh."

-Diehard sports fanatics who probably couldn't run to their mailbox without having a heart attack.

-Nascar, go ahead and keep it just reduce it to ten laps or something, then it would be interesting how crazy it gets when they go balls to the wall rather then a ridiculously long endurance race with pitstops and tire changes. Its no wonder no one can watch it without a beer in hand.

-People who declare themselves to be Democratic or Republican, lets be honest, both parties are souly devoted to fighting with the other and have lost all desire to do what is best for the people.

-Those two insets on the tops of hangers (designated for hanging womens shirts like spaghetti string and others). They catch the collar of my tee shirts everytime.

I could go on for days but I will finish up with one more,

-Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco

Camille's List

-Stupid Bosses

-Girly girls, you know what I am talking about.

-The Flu, cause it just sucks.

-Mondays, have they done anyone any good?

-Diet Coke, Sorry Judy, Sorry Erin, but it must go.

-Acne in odd spots, like your back and your butt.....no, I do not have butt-ne.

-Gossip.

We want to hear some of yours. We will not "tag" anyone. Its a free country, do what you want.

Soapbox Moment!

I don't normally post stuff like this, but I can't stop thinking about it. Today on the Radio From Hell morning show, on X96, they do a segment called "ask a..." and various people from all walks of life have come on. Today was ask an excommunicated mormon. I was intrigued as I am mormon, LDS, whathave you. The lady that was on was excommincated for speaking out about doctrinal issues. Her deal was with the treatment of women in the church, the fact women don't hold the priesthood and her husband had been excommunicated previously. I don't agree with her, but decided to hear her out. She was going on about how no one tried to have a discussion with her and try to answer her questions. She likened the high council to the communist party. She can have her beliefs, but she has to be silent about it to be able to stay in the church. She wrote articles against this principle of the church and had them published.
This struck me in a couple of ways. No loving bishop, or stake president would just tell you to be silent, they would try to resolve issues and after that if you still have problems and try to persuade others to believe against the doctrine then that's when disciplinary action is taken. How can you claim to be part of any church, claim to have a testimony but not believe in every single aspect? I admit I struggle with some things (and am not perfect by any means), but I try to understand them spiritually and temporally. I don't want to judge her as she is entitled to her opinions and beliefs. But as far as the church is concerned, they were right to do what they did. She cannot represent Christ, represent the church, but speak out about one of the most important principles of the church. It's just too contradictory.
Personally, I wouldn't want the priesthood. Think about it, if women held the priesthood along with their other callings, being a mother and so forth, what would the men do? Elder Dallin H. Oaks said, "Men are not the priesthood." The priesthood is a gift from Heavenly Father to bless all his children. The men hold the priesthood to bless everyone. Yes, some men abuse this gift and some women abuse their gifts as well. Nobody is perfect. I can see how someone could see this as men are treated better than women. But at the same time, they must not fully understand or have the slightest testimony of the priesthood.
Sure being a young woman I thought the boys were treated better beause of the activities they got to do. I just thought the people in the ward were jerks for not being willing to take the young women boating too. I didn't ever think it was just because they had the priesthood. People tend to lump the members as the gospel. Members are not perfect, but the gospel is. I think that is all too often tied together. If you have a true testimony of the gospel, you would realize and differentiate this fact. I know Satan uses this against us. Many people fall away from the church because of the way members live and act, not because of the gospel and it's principles.
I know I am on a huge soapbox right now, but someone called in and made the comment that the reason people get defensive about the church and it's doctrines is because they are insecure. Quite the opposite my friend. I rise to the defense because it is something I love and know to be true. I think non-mormons are just don't understand the church. They see it as an archaic religious institution. But I am glad the church will always be the same it does not change, no matter what century. If your religion reflected the attitudes of mainstream society, then it would be the church of the world, not the church of God. He is the head of the church, not the world. Thankgoodness for that.

Lights! Camera!... We're dorks!

So Kelly got me some studio lights for my birthday and we finally set them up last week. We were trying to figure out how to syncronize everything, figure out how it worked. Once we, (Kelly really, I came down later) figured it out, we decided to have some fun testing out the lights. I was looking at the pictures and said to Kelly, "we are so blogging these". So here for your enjoyment, to entertain you at work, and to embarrass me, our attempts at being professionals with lights. I have to tell you, it wasn't easy using the timer then trying to pose. We almost knocked the camera over a couple of times. It was fun though, I didn't want to go to my relief society meeting that night. Lucky for me it was canceled. I didn't edit any of these so that you may awe at them in their full glory!

Bolder Boulder, or if you like, More Bold!

Sea Level is for sissy's. That's right running at elevation 5000+ feet, is not easy. This last Memorial Day, Kelly and I participated in the second biggest race in the United States, 54,000 people participated. It was the Boulder Boulder 10k (6.2 miles). I would have to say it was the funnest race I have done. The hole town of Boulder gets into it. There were people outside of their houses offering water, fruit, beer-I mean carbs-, one house had a mudslide and even cupcakes- the cake you can run with. I followed a guy who was juggling the whole way. Some runners were dressed in costumes. By the time I was done, I didn't feel like I had run 6 miles. Cyndi stayed with me the whole time and we finished in 1 hour :13 minutes. Kelly finished in 54 minutes. This was my first 10k, and Kelly's as well. I know, do a 10k before a half-marathon, but I'm just not generic like that.

We arrived in Boulder Friday night. The city is gorgeous green, it's like city in the mountains.
Saturday we picked up our packets and just walked around the booths that were set up. That was insane, there were so many people there. Sunday we drove to Estas Park, about 35 miles away. How you know this quaint town? There is The Stanley mansion or hotel where 'The Shining' was filmed. We were going to tour it, but it cost money and to be honest we weren't that interested. So we found this little amusement park and drove go-karts and bumper boats. I must have been playing too much Mario Kart because I kept wanting to throw a red turtle at the stupid kid in front of me.

Monday was the race. It was perfect weather, overcast. Meredith, Cyndi, Cyndi's friend Michelle, Kelly and I were the runners. So I don't have any pictures of us finishing or starting because there was just too many people and all of my photographers were running. So here are some cute pics of the kids at Estas Park and pics from the Bolder Boulder web site. P.S. the red shirts we are all wearing say "whydoyourun.com". We got them free from a booth and if we were wearing the shirts during the race, they would write down our bib number and there was a chance to win something. None of us won :( PSS I had to wait for our Boulder pics to be posted. That's why it took me a week to update this one.

Logan Schmogan!

So it's this time of year that was always my favorite in Logan. Things were really starting to get green and warm. My favorite street in Logan was 2nd East from about 10th north to 2nd north. The trees just hung over the street and it was just awesome. I never got to take a picture of it, well because I would have been hit by a car.
I will admit I do miss Logan, but only in the summer. There was just tons of stuff to do outside, we were only an hour away from Bear Lake. Good times. So I was looking through some pics of Logan and I will post some of my favorite spots. Why? Because I have nothing else to post and Amanda gets mad at me that I hardly ever update.

This is up at the outdoor ampitheater on Old Main Hill. I would ride my bike up here to sit, think, sleep or read. It was just a great place to watch the sunset. I also had a great view of the temple.
This bridge was up at 1st or 2nd dam, one of the damn dams. I would run on the river trail and would stop at the bridge and spit over one side and hurry to the other side to see if I could see it floating. Don't judge me, you know you've done that sometime in your life. Plus it was just a cool spot to come.

This is in Sardine Canyon right before the disappearing lake. This isn't a favorite spot because I hated driving through that canyon, but it sure is a cool picture. At least I think so.

I just like the name of the restaurant. The food is soso and is overpriced. The name was also a nickname for getting 'some', like "do the gia." Don't ask where it came from. I'm not even sure that I made it up.
This is the alley in between the bookstore and.... I forget.... on Main street. It always reminded me of an alley you would get mugged in. But I think the door at the end is the White Owl. Kelly and I went around "downtown" Logan one night just taking cool pictures.
The old roller rink which had been closed for long time by the time I took this. One of my friends got proposed to here. Not a favorite spot, but a landmark nonetheless. I skated there once and was afraid I was going to die.
I think this was in the parking lot of Old Navy and we just happened to have a camera with us. I have seen some of the best sunsets ever in Logan. So there you have it. My little visual ode to Logan. I was always saying I wanted to move out of there, glad I did mind you, but you have to admit it is really pretty up there.

Jimmy Eat World!!

Jimmy Eat World has been a favorite band of mine ever since Bleed American came out. When I found out Kelly liked them just as much as I do, I knew it was meant to be. They have come to Utah a couple of times and we finally went to a concert of theirs on April 14. It was down at the McKay Events Center at UVU. We went with some friends, Chase and Amanda.
The first band was Dear and the Headlights, never heard of them before. They were ok I guess. Then Paramore played second. They were pretty good live. None of us really knew any of their songs except for their most popular ones: crushcrushcrush, misery business. We felt like the oldest ones there. A bunch of teenagers were rocking it out in front of us. I'm pretty sure one of the kids was gay. And I quote from him, "I don't even know who Jimmy Eat World is." How can you not know. But Paramore was pretty good and might be worth checking out.
Jimmy played last. They opened with Big Casino. They played a lot from Bleed American, Futures, Clarity and Static Prevails. It was awesome. Despite half the crowd leaving after Paramore, it was just cool to be there. I wanted to rock out and be 16 again, but you can't be the only one in your group dancing around. But I still loved the experience. Kelly said he enjoyed himself as well. I decided I wouldn't be too sad if I never went to a concert like that again. I hated being at least 5 years older than everyone else. oh well, "rock on young savior, don't give up your hopes!!"- Jimmy Eat World, Big Casino.

OMG we are totally at a concert without our parents.

We love Jimmy!!

Rocking out the free cd, that we lost somewhere.

What's that face Chase, not sure if that is the
correct rock on signage?

"..the sweetness will not be concerned with me!"

"Crimson and clover, over and over."

/
This is Paramore, fyi.
